Microneedling, also referred to as skin needling or collagen induction therapy, is a process where a professional therapist runs a tool over the stretch mark area. Is it Effective?

Stretch marks are scars that form in the middle layer of skin, and like scars from injuries, they do not go away on their own. While they may fade over time, getting rid of stretch marks requires undergoing a treatment that can penetrate the top layer of skin and affect the middle layer of skin where stretch mark scars form.

How many treatments will i need?

More than one microneedling treatment is generally required for stretch marks. An individual treatment plan will be developed that considers the severity of your stretch marks / scarring, but you can probably expect to need five or more treatments with intervals between 4 to 6 weeks. On average, a single microneedling treatment takes approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour. The entire process will take 4 to 6 months to see desired results.

What is microneedling?

Microneedling is the process of tiny needles moving up and down in a vertical motion to create tiny controlled punctures in this skin. This results in the stimulation of the healing process and production of collagen and elastin which replace old skin resulting in healthier, smoother skin.

How will my skin look after treatment?

Initially your skin may look red and flushed as if you have mild sunburn. This will resolve quite quickly and your skin’s appearance should be back to normal in 24 hours.

How will my skin feel after treatment?

For the first few hours your skin may feel tight and mildly sensitive. This will resolve within a few hours.

How often is microneedling recommended?

Results will start to show 4-6 weeks after treatment as this is the prime time for skin cells to have finished their regeneration process.

If further treatments are required, it is recommended to be done at monthly intervals.
